Statement of Belief (from the Members’ Handbook)
- The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
- The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit eternally in the Godhead. (John 17:3-21; Matthew 3:15-17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
- The sovereignty and grace of God in creation providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement. (Colossians 1:11-20)- The universal sinfulness and guilt of fallen man, making him subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. (Isaiah 53:6; John 3:36)
- The full deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, and his real and sinless humanity. (Matthew 16:16; Luke 1:26-35; Hebrews 7:26)
- The substitutionary sacrifice and the bodily resurrection of the Incarnate Son of God - as the sole and all sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences. (2 Corinthians 5:15-21; Hebrews 2:14)
- The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead. (Romans 3:24-26; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
- The necessity of the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying and empowering work of God the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. (John 3:3,8; 16:7-11; Ephesians 1:13; Romans 8:9; Acts 1:8)
- The priesthood of all believers, who form the universal Church, the body of Christ, of which he is the head, and which is committed by his command to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world. (Ephesians 4:4-6; Matthew 28:18-20)
- The rite of Believers’ Baptism by immersion ordained by our Lord, practised by the apostles and taught in the New Testament. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4)
- The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory. (Acts 1:6-11)
